Although being just second phase of the project the initiative already have bring deep impact on the daily lives of our fellow countrymen residing at remote borders of our country.
The Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh stands as a critical geopolitical boundary, and the border villages in close proximity to this line play a pivotal role in safeguarding national security. Given the evolving strategic landscape, there is an urgent need to upgrade these border villages to enhance their
infrastructure, connectivity, and overall resilience. Thus for uplifting the lives and facilities for the children and communities residing at crucial border locations NTPC Ltd. with Samaarambh Foundation as a Implementing agency have initiated Project Shiksharath.
IMPACT OF SHIKSHARATH 5.0
Tourism and Cultural Exchange:
- Increased tourism can lead to additional income opportunities for the tribal
communities through services such as local guides, accommodation, and cultural
exchanges. - The telescope can attract astrotourism, drawing visitors interested in
stargazing and experiencing the unique celestial views of Ladakh’s clear night
skies.
Economic Opportunities:
- Local artisans and entrepreneurs can develop and sell astronomy-themed
products, fostering a new market for handmade crafts and souvenirs. - The establishment of a stargazing facility may create jobs within the
community, ranging from telescope operation and maintenance to hospitality and
tourism-related services.
Infrastructure Development:
- The need for better infrastructure to support tourism and stargazing activities
may lead to improved roads, communication facilities, and other essential
services in the region. - This, in turn, can contribute to the overall development of the village and
enhance the quality of life for its residents.
Cultural Preservation:
- Stargazing is often deeply intertwined with local folklore and traditions. The
telescope can help preserve and promote indigenous knowledge related to
celestial navigation, constellations, and myths. - Cultural performances and events can be organized, creating an additional
source of income for the community.
Global Collaboration and Funding:
- The unique geographical location of Ladakh and its pristine night skies may
attract international collaborations and funding for astronomical research and
observation projects. - This collaboration can bring global attention to the village and potentially
result in financial support for community development initiatives.
