SHIKSHARATH 6.0: Improve Educational Infrastructure & Access To Essential Resources
Shiksharath 6.0, a collaboration between NTPC and Samaarambh Foundation, aimed to improve educational infrastructure and access to essential resources for students in seven remote border Villages along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). These villages—Chumor, Chusul, Demchok, Hanle, Korjok, Kyul, and Mudh—are predominantly inhabited by Scheduled Tribe communities, comprising
4,800 villagers, including 30 self-help groups and 50 youth.
The project provided critical school amenities such as school bags, shoes, study materials, and sports kits, addressing resource shortages that hindered education in these areas. By empowering students with these resources, the initiative sought to increase school attendance, foster greater engagement, and improve overall educational outcomes.
Beyond addressing immediate needs, this project strengthened NTPC’s commitment to rural development and its role in supporting the aspirations of Scheduled Tribe communities living in these underserved, strategically significant regions.
OBJECTIVE
- To enhance the educational infrastructure and provide access to basic school amenities for students in the seven villages along the LAC.
- To address the critical gap in resources like school bags, shoes, study materials, and sports kits, ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities.
- To promote higher attendance rates and active participation among students in academic and extracurricular activities.
- To foster community development and strengthen the role of NTPC and ITBP in empowering Scheduled Tribe communities in remote border regions.
Samaarambh Foundation is deeply grateful for the partnership with NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation Limited). Their collaboration is a testament to the power of collective action in driving positive change and creating a brighter future .
